Moss
Brooding, chiming, melodic pop is Moss’s trademark. Their sound is at times reminiscent of the delicate tapestries spun by bands hailing from the UK’s C86, or C88 scenes, but with added muscle, nous and drive. Think of Klaus Dinger jamming Beatles love songs in a bar with the Pale Fountains at their dreamiest, and you’re almost there. They’ve released two LPs to date: The Long Way Back, back in 2007 and Never Be Scared, Don’t Be a Hero in the autumn of 2009.
As well as winsome guitar-based melodies, Moss’ music showcases the soft, warm voice of singer Marien. Dorleijn was playing with Dutch band Caesar when he met light engineer Bob Gibson. Once they’d got a rapport going – and some songs under their belts – the band gradually expanded into the current line up of Dorleijn, Gibson, Michiel Stam, Finn Kruyning and Jasper Verhulst.
